“Persephone” Mini Book Bag

Persephone was the Goddess of Fertility – Hades, the God of the Underworld fell in love with her and spirited her away to make her his Queen of the Underworld.

Demeter (Persephone’s Mother), demanded her return, but Persephone – having eaten a pomegranate seed whilst in the Underworld – was now bound to return there.

A compromise was met where Persephone would spend two-thirds the year with her mother, and one-third of the year with Hades.
And so the birth of the seasons was made through this union (or so the story goes).
